Student bursaries

Introduction

The AHDB Cereals & Oilseeds Undergraduate Student Bursary scheme has been running since June 2000.

The scheme offers an opportunity for researchers working on current AHDB Cereals & Oilseeds-funded projects to run a small bursary project alongside it that provides added value, which would not otherwise be conducted within the original project remit.

An undergraduate student or recent graduate will conduct the research and, ideally, will be supervised by a recent post-graduate or postdoctoral worker, rather than a lead scientist.

The scheme also encourages young scientists into research and several bursary students have already moved on to undertake PhDs.

Aims of the bursary scheme

1. To encourage young scientists into agricultural research

2. To provide an opportunity for recent post-graduates or post-doctoral workers to gain supervisory experience

3. To add value to existing AHDB Cereals & Oilseeds projects

Note: The scheme will not run in 2019.
