Alistair Hodge farms 154 hectares of combinable crops; runs five cottage lets and finishes cattle throughout the year under management agreement. Alistair has been arable farming since 2001, growing winter wheat and barley for feed, as well as oats and milling wheat. As a host farmer, he hopes to draw on others’ experience and improve his business.

Fungicide decisions at the Borders Monitor Farm 


The first Monitor Farm meeting of the New Year kicked off on Alistair Hodge’s farm down in the Borders yesterday, and despite the weather, it was good to see a big turnout.

After an update from Alistair and the latest on the markets from the trade, everyone was keen to get outside, have a look at the crops and see how they had come through the winter – especially the min till fields.
